Exodus 1

Good morning y’all. Happy new year :).

So we made it to the 1st blog of the year. God is amazing 🙂 and I’m excited about  Exodus 🙂

Today, we start with Chapter 1. In this chapter, we see the children of Isreal prosper and flourish in Egypt. Pharoah frustrates the isrealites yet they continue to prosper. He asks the midwives to kill the the male children, but they refused and in return, God blesses the midwives and also increases the isrealites.

Verse 1 -5 tells us of the children of Jacob that relocated to Egypt. These people were in a foreign land but yet they multiplied and prospered in the foreign land. Even after Joseph and his generation all died in Egypt, the children of Isreal kept on multiplying and filled the land.

Friends,wherever you find yourself this year, know that God is not limited by your location. He took the children of Isreal from their land to a foreign one and He prospered them there. God can prosper you wherever you are. He is the Omnipresent, All knowing God. If He has sent you there, He will surely make a way for you. Isaiah 43:19 says He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Sit still and enjoy the journey :).

As we read further, we are introduced to the new king who didn’t know about Joseph and all He did for Egypt. This new king, was jealous and afraid of the children of Isreal as they filled the land and were so prosperous in Egypt. Out of fear, the king asked for the Israelites to be treated harshly and used as slaves, but God had other plans :). In verse 12 we are told the more the Egyptians terrorised the isrealites, the more the isrealites became prosperous and multiplied. 

“But the more the Egyptians oppressed the Israelites, the more they increased in number and the further they spread through the land. The Egyptians came to fear the Israelites”(Exodus 1:12 GNB)

Friends, just like the children of Isreal, God will cause you to continue to prosper no matter the attack the enemy sends your way this year. He will frustrate the enemies plans over your life. The Egyptians thought by frustrating the Isrealites they will decrease in number, yet the bible says they increased and spread out farther through the land. Don’t loose hope this year. Isaiah 54:19 says no weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper. Be encouraged God is on your side 🙂

From verse 15 -21 we are introduced to the Hebrew midwives. Oh, how I love these women. I am of the opinion they were Egyptians assigned to be midwives to the Hebrew women. These women were asked to do the unthinkable by Pharoah. He asked them to kill every male Isrealite child born at birth. But these women refused to obey Pharoahs orders because they had the fear of God in them.

“But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive”. (Exodus 1:17 KJV)

Now, I ask myself if they were Egyptians how did they become God fearing? Perhaps, the answer lies in the fact that they had been relating with the Isrealites and have come to see the power of God at work in their lives. As a result, they had come to understand that their God is the only true God.

Friends, our lives should be a witness to others. People should see us and see the glory, power and character of God reflected through us and as a result desire to want to know our God.

These Midwives made a bold decision to defy Pharoah; a decision they knew would cost them a lot. This is Pharoah we are talking about! The most powerful man in Egypt asks you to do something and you defy him? Yet the Hebrew midwives chose to honor God above Pharoah. Can you imagine what would have happened to the Isreal race, if these midwives obeyed Pharoah? There would be no Moses, Joshua or David. I am sure it wasn’t an easy decision for them to make, knowing the potential consequence of their disobedience if Pharoah was to find out.

Friends, how many of us are willing to stand for what is right this year? How many of us will not compromise our stand with God this year in order to please man? Defying Pharaoh could have cost the midwives their lives, but they didn’t think about that. Their concern was pleasing God rather than pharaoh and I’m reminded of Daniel and the Hebrew boys. They also made up their minds not to defile God.

The result of their obedience was amazing. Bible says….”So God dealt well with the midwives. And the people multiplied and grew very strong. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families“.(Exodus 1:20-21). There is always a blessing in our obedience. It might not seem or look that way in the beginning but God always Honors those who honor Him.

Friends, as you start this year, make up your mind to please God alone and not man. Ask for his help to always choose to do what’s right as opposed to what man wants from you. And as you do, I believe God will bless you in return.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, we thank you for today and the grace to come before your feet to learn of you. We thank you for we know, you are not limited by our location or position. We thank you for we know, none of the plans of the enemies for us this year will prosper. We pray for the grace to choose you over any other thing; that we will seek to please you at all times. Thank you God and may our lives represent you today. In Jesus Name. Amen

Can anything drive a wedge between us and God’s love for us?

Good morning y’all. Compliments of the season :). Trust we all had a fab Christmas celebration. I pray the joy and blessings of this season will be ours now and always In Jesus Name. Amen

Today’s blog has been long due. Infact I got the word on Christmas eve and I have been procrastinating about posting the blog ever since (***covering my eyes***). I’ve been carried away by all the Christmas activities and food :(. Thank God for grace and second chances, I am now blogging the message. Interestingly, my Pastor preached similar message on sunday :).

During my quiet time on Christmas eve, I was led to read Romans 8. Verses 31 to 39 jumped out at me, and that’s what I want to encourage someone with today.

I am reading from the Message version.

“So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture: They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one. None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us” (Romans 8:31-39 MSG).

I don’t know about you, but i’m excited about this scripture. Nothing can drive a wedge between us and God’s love or seperate us from God’s love. Not even trouble, not hard times or even our sins…absolutely nothing can separate us. (I’ve got a big smile on my face…:)).

Absolutely nothing can separate you from Gods love. His love for you is so deep, so wide, it’s unfathomable. Trust him today. Don’t run from him. Don’t listen to the one lies from the enemy telling you, that you are not loved or your sins are too much that God can’t forgive you or love you. Isaiah 1:18 says: “Come now, let’s settle this,” says the lord . “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool”. (Isaiah 1:18 NLT)

God is absolutely head over heels in love with you :). Jeremiah 31:3 says: “…I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself”. You are so important to Him, that He sent his only son to die for you. Truth is, even if, it was only you in the world, He would have still sent Jesus for you because thats how much He loves you. Romans 5:8 says: “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners”.

Be encouraged! God is on your side and HE loves you dearly. God is for you, therefore no one can be against you.
Pls, can I crave your indulgence and ask you to repeat these words out loud; GOD IS FOR ME!!!! Let the words settle in your heart today 🙂

As we prep for the new year, please remember that nothing, absolutely nothing that comes your way in 2015 can drive a wedge between you and God’s love for you. Yaaaaaaay!!!
