Genesis 41

Good morning y’all. Happy Monday :).
Today’s blog is coming live and direct from the 7:31 train from Winchester to Manchester Piccadilly. It’s another packed train journey where i have to stand for the duration of my journey (not so pleasant when you are trying to blog!!!) Oh! how I have learnt to stop complaining and just enjoy the beauty that surrounds me as the train navigates its way through beautiful and serene scenery and sometimes i get to see the sheep as they graze in the fields as well :). Enuf of my ranting ๐Ÿ™‚ lets get back to the real matter.

Today we in Genesis 41. In this chapter, we see how Joseph is remembered and promoted from a prisoner to Governor in Egypt.

Be blessed ๐Ÿ™‚

Joseph was forgotten in the prison for 2 years. It seemed like nothing was happening, but after 2 years his story changed. It took Pharaoh having a dream which none of the wise men in the land could interprete, for the Butler to finally remember Joseph. Friends it’s not over until God says so. God can and will orchestrate events in order for everything to work out for our good. In Josephs case the king had to have a dream before everything turned around for his good. The slave became the governor!

When the king tried to commend Joseph for his ability in interpreting dreams, Joseph refused the commendation and gave the glory back to God. Verse 16 tells us Josephs response to the king.
โ€œYour Majesty,โ€ Joseph answered, โ€œI can’t do it myself, but God can give a good meaning to your dreams.โ€ (Genesis 41:16 CEVUS06)
How quick are we to acknowledge God is the source of everything we are able to do. Without Him we are nothing. All glory should always go back to Him. No matter how small or big, He deserves it all.

God helped Joseph interprete the dream and he was made the Governor. It seemed like he had been forgotten but again God showed up for him and elevated him at the right time. God will elevate us at the right time, if we keep pleasing him and doing the right thing despite the odds that are stacked against us.

The king also noticed the presence of the spirit of God in Joseph. He could tell that Joseph was one of God’s chosen ones. Friends, what are people seeing or perceiving when they see us? Are they seeing Jesus or ourself.

Joseph as result of allowing himself to be used by God to interpret the kings dream became Governor of Egypt. What matters the most is not how you started but how you end. Joseph story seemed hopeless from the beginning; hated by his brother; a slave in Egypt, but God who owns everything and knows all things, already had a plan in place to make sure he had a good ending. He made sure he blessed Joseph with the ability to interpret dreams. That ability from God made room for him and brought him before the king.
Friends what is that ability or gift or talent that God has placed in our hands. No matter how small or big the ability is, it’s time to start using it for God’s glory. Acknowledge He gave the gift in the first place and ask Him how he would like us to use the gift, then watch Him open doors for us and bring us before kings and princes. Proverbs 18:16 says: “A manโ€™s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men”. (NKJV)

Verse 42 says the king took off his signet ring and put it on Joseph. His position as governor was now sealed. There is no debate about it. The power from the king has been transferred to him. Friends it’s like that once we become God’s Children.  He transfers his power over to us. We too have the ability to speak things into existence like Jesus did, we too have the power to work miracles. Infact Jesus said in John 14:12 that greater works than these shall we do.

There is a time and season for everything. We need to be sensitive to know which is the right season. Joseph obeyed the warning in the dream. He knew they had 7 yrs to plan and he did just that. He wasn’t sleeping when he was meant to be working.
Lets stop wasting our time doing irrelevant things. Its time to start doing the right thing at the right time. We need to find out what season we are in and what God requires us to do in that season. Once it has been revealed, let’s get up and do it.

Proverbs 20: 4 says: “Those too lazy to plow in the right season will have no food at the harvest“. (NLT)

Proverbs 24: 30-34 also says:
“One day I walked by the field of an old lazybones, and then passed the vineyard of a lout; They were overgrown with weeds, thick with thistles, all the fences broken down. I took a long look and pondered what I saw; the fields preached me a sermon and I listened: โ€œA nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there, sit back, take it easyโ€”do you know what comes next? Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life, with poverty as your permanent houseguest!โ€ (MSG)

Prayer:
Dear Lord we thank you for today. We give you all the glory. We thank you for reminding us that you have not forgotten us and are able to make all things work out for our good. We pray for grace to understand the season we are in and the ability to get up and do what we need to do at the right time. Thank you Lord In Jesus Name. Amen .

Thanks for joining today. Pls feel free to leave your thoughts on the chapter ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a blessed Monday and remember your story is not over until God says it’s over ๐Ÿ™‚

Genesis 40

Good morning y’all. Thank God it’s Friday :). Today we in chapter 40 of Genesis. Here we see Joseph interpret the dreams of the cupbearer and baker.

Be blessed:)

Joseph was observant and sensitive to the needs of his wards – cup bearer and baker. Verse 6 says “…He noticed that they both looked upset”. Some of us are so into ourselves that we are not sensitive to the needs of those around us. Joseph noticed the long face of the baker and cupbearer and he took the time to find out what the issue was.

As Christians we are called to be light of the world and salt of earth but how can we be light and salt if we are self absorbed and live in our own little world where it’s all about Me Myself and I. The bible also says we should bear each others burden. Again how can we do that if we dont take the time to stop and oberve whats going on around us. I pray God helps us to be more observant and sensitive to the needs of those he has placed in our circle.

Joseph didn’t rely on himself or his knowledge to interpret the dreams. He made sure to let the baker and cupbearer know that God is the one who can interpret dreams. He refused to take the glory but rather give it back to God.
Are we pointing people back to God when they comment about our level of achievement, wisdom, ability to solve issues, knowledge…etc or are we taking the glory for ourselves? We should be quick to let them know it is the God in us that makes all the difference.
Sometimes God places us in certain situations so we can be solutions to the problem and use that opportunity as a means to preach the gospel to the people involved.

Joseph proceeded to interpret their dreams and he specifically asked the cupbearer to remember him and mention him to pharaoh when he gets out of jail. Verse 23 says the cupbearer didn’t remember Joseph at all.

Pharaohโ€™s chief cup-bearer, however, forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought.(Genesis 40:23 NLT)

How often do we behave like the cupbearer; it’s like once we get what we want from people or even from God, we completely forget about them. We forget the promises we made when we were desperate for the help. We forget to even go back and say thank you. We only remember to come back when we have another issue. May God help us stop acting like an ingrate

From Josephs side, it looked as if he had been forgotten and would probably rot in jail but i thank God that’s not how his story ended :); he eventually made it to the palace. I wanna encourage someone today, perhaps like Joseph you feel you have been forgotten or cheated, I want you to know that God hasnt forgotten you and at the right time, HE will cause you to be remembered by the right people.

We see God do similar thing in the life of Mordecai in the book of Esther. When it was time for Mordecai to be remembered, God caused King Xerxes to have a sleepless night which caused him to go through the books of history. From the books, he realised Mordecai had been forgotten. The following morning, he ordered for Mordecai to be rewarded and promoted.

God is still in the business of remembering people. He sees, He hears and He cares. Be encouraged :). God will cause you to be remembered In Jesus Name

Prayer:
Dear Lord we thank you for today. Thank you for this wonderful privilege to be called your children and be able to approach your throne with boldness. Today we ask for the grace to be observant and sensitive to the needs of those around us. Forgive us for the many opportunities we have missed as a result of us being self absorbed. We ask you help us remember to always point people back to you; that we won’t take the glory for ourselves. For as many that feel forgotten today, Lord I ask you will encourage them and cause them to be remembered. Also help us remember to come back to say thank you. We love you Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen
