Proverbs 1 – Empowered to Reign in Life

Good day everyone and welcome back to my channel where I blog a chapter of the bible a day

Today we are revisiting the book of Proverbs, starting from chapter 1

The very first verse caught my attention. It says: “Here are kingdom revelations, words to live by, and words of wisdom given to empower you to reign in life, written as proverbs by Israel’s King Solomon, David’s son”.(Proverbs 1:1 TPT)

There is so much to unpack from the book of proverbs that will help us reign and have dominion here on earth.

In the first 5 verses of this chapter, reading from the TPT version, I could find 10 benefits of studying and living our day to day lives by the words found in the book of proverbs.

  1. Words of wisdom to empower us reign in life
  2. Revelation of wisdom
  3. Impartation of Spiritual Understanding
  4. Keys to unlock treasures of true knowledge
  5. Discipline to demonstrate wisdom in every relationship
  6. Discipline to choose what is right and fair
  7. Great skill to teach the immature and make them wise,
  8. It will give youth the understanding of their design and destiny.
  9. Wise will be wiser
  10. It will help acquire brilliant strategies for leadership.

Point 5, 7 & 10 blew my mind…. if you need to understand you design – how God made you and for what purpose, just study proverbs. You want to understand your destiny, study proverbs. You are a leader, and you want to lead Gods way, study proverbs. You want to understand how to navigate the relationships God has placed in your life, study proverbs. Whatever stage you are in life and wherever you find yourself, the answers you need is in the book of proverbs!!!!

Verse 7 is a popular verse we often quote but I like how the TPT version puts it

“We cross the threshold of true knowledge when we live in obedient devotion to God. Stubborn know-it-alls will never stop to do this, for they scorn true wisdom and knowledge”. (Prov 1:7 TPT)

True knowledge stems from obedience to God, having a deep reverence of Him and submission to Him. God himself is the source of knowledge, so who best to teach us everything we need to know about knowledge / wisdom than Him.

Verses 8–19 depict a father advising his child not to give in to peer pressure or follow friends into negative behavior, regardless of how appealing it might appear. Harmful actions can sometimes be disguised to seem positive, making them easy to fall for if one is not cautious. Thank God we have a loving father who constantly instructs us and guide us in the right way to go. The question is are you listening and are you willing to be led by the one who knows it all and is the source of all wisdom?

God is the source of wisdom and the only one who can give true wisdom. He is always ready to give us wisdom. In verse 23, we see the invitation of wisdom, calling us to come back to our sense.

“Come back to your senses and be restored to reality. Don’t even think about refusing my rebuke! Don’t you know that I’m ready to pour out my spirit of wisdom upon you and bring to you the revelation of my words that will make your heart wise?” (Proverbs 1:23 TPT)

God wants to pour out on us all the spirit of wisdom thereby making our hearts wise. This wisdom pursuit is not just on the outside; it has to start from the inside.

Verse 33 tells us what those who heed to the invitation of wisdom will enjoy.

“But the one who always listens to me will live undisturbed in a heavenly peace. Free from fear, confident and courageous, that one will rest unafraid and sheltered from the storms of life.” (Proverbs 1:33 TPT)

God is inviting us to come learn from Him. He is understanding, He is wisdom and He is knowledge. His way is the only sure way we can live a safe and peaceful life.

This is the daily invitation: to let wisdom be our companion, guiding us through every season, every relationship, every decision, until our lives become a living testimony to the beauty and power of God

Are you ready to heed the call?

Numbers 8 – Love and Obedience…

Good morning y’all. Today’s blog is on Numbers chapter 8.

As I read through the chapter, obedience was what came to mind. I guess its because God has been dealing with me on this issue of obedience.

I’m learning to obey Him completely and not partially even when it hurts to do so (oh it could be very painful.. 🙂 thank God for grace…) .  I’m also seeing that God likes to pay attention to details and He likes things to be done the way He has instructed and not how I think it should be done.

God doesn’t leave room for assumption. He tells us plainly and clearly how He wants things to be done. If we are unsure, it’s better to go back to Him and ask for clarification rather than assume.

For example in verse 1-3, God tells Moses to tell Aaron where to put the lamps and in what position it should face.

“The Lord said to Moses,  “Give Aaron the following instructions: When you set up the seven lamps in the lampstand, place them so their light shines forward in front of the lampstand.”  So Aaron did this. He set up the seven lamps so they reflected their light forward, just as the Lord had commanded Moses”  (Num 8:1-3 NLT)

Aaron could have said to himself…” I’ll put the lamps on the lampstands but I don’t think God would really care if it’s facing the right position or not”. Thank God he didn’t take that approach as there’s no telling what would have happened to him had he done that… I guess the fear of God came upon him after watching his two sons die in the presence of God due to their carelessness to obey instruction.

God instructs Moses and Aaron and the children of Israel on what needs to be done in order for the Levites to be dedicated to Him. They all obeyed and followed God’s instruction. They didn’t try to cut corners or look for easy way round. Doing it God’s way must have been more important to them than doing it their way.

“So Moses, Aaron, and the whole community of Israel dedicated the Levites, carefully following all the Lord’s instructions to Moses”. (Num 8:20 NLT)

How much value do we place on obedience to God’s instruction? Do we feel we can do it however we like or do we pay attention to details to ensure its done correctly.

God is a God of attention and order. He doesn’t leave anything out at all. He pays attention even to the littlest thing we consider irrelevant.

As we go about our day today, let’s ponder on our obedience. Lets ask for forgiveness in the areas where we have fallen short and ask for grace to love God more because when we love Him, we will obey Him unconditionally.

Thanks for joining today. Pls feel free to share your thots on the chapter.
