Genesis 21

Good morning y’all.  Today we in chapter 21 of Genesis. Here we see God fulfilling his promise and giving Abraham and Sarah a son as he promised, Hagar and her son sent away but God provided for them and Abraham made a treaty with Abimelech.

Be blessed 🙂

S – Scripture that stood out for me

Genesis 21:1-4 MSG: God visited Sarah exactly as he said he would; God did to Sarah what he promised: Sarah became pregnant and gave Abraham a son in his old age, and at the very time God had set. Abraham named him Isaac. When his son was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him just as God had commanded.

O – Observations
O1) God is fauthful and keeps His promises. He did what he said he would do for Sarah and Abraham and he did it at the right time. God can be trusted because He never fails. He is never a day late. He can and will do the same for us too. Be encouraged 🙂

O2) God always provides and makes a way even where there seems to be no way.  God made provision for Hagar and her son. The situation looked hopeless for them, she was waiting for her son to die of thirst, yet God made a way. He meet her at her deepest need and blessed her and made provision for water. In the middle of the wilderness her provided a well. God can meet our needs too. Phil 4:19 says
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (NKJV)

A – Application
Cast our cares to God today and trust him to fulfil His promise and meet our needs.

P – Prayer
Dear Lord we thank you, we give you praise. Thank you for reminding us that you are a God that can be trusted. You always keep your promises. Pls give us the grace to learn to wait on you for the promise knowing that you are able to bring to pass what you have promised. Thank you also for showing us that you are able to meet our needs even when everything looks impossible. Help us trust you with all our needs no matter how small or big they might be. We love you Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen

Thanks for joining today.

Have a blessed Saturday and Remember God is never a day late.

Genesis 20

Good morning y’all. Today we in Genesis 20. In this chapter we see Abraham repeat the same mistake he made in chapter 12 .He lied that Sarah was his sister and as a result an entire household almost died!

Be blessed 🙂

S – Scriptures that stood out for me
Genesis 20:6-7 MSG : God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know your intentions were pure, that’s why I kept you from sinning against me; I was the one who kept you from going to bed with her. So now give the man’s wife back to him. He’s a prophet and will pray for you—pray for your life. If you don’t give her back, know that it’s certain death both for you and everyone in your family.”

O – Observations
O1) Abraham once again didn’t trust God enough to keep him and Sarah safe in their travels. He lied to Abimelech that Sarah was his sister. Fair enough she was his half sister but he conveniently forgot the bit that she was also his wife. He did this because he was scared of the men in the town killing him for Sarah.
Do we trust God enough to know that if he has called us, he will keep us safe. He is the one who said I will go before you and make every crooked path straight.
Lying is never the solution to the problem. If at all it creates more problem.

O2) Abrahams lie almost cost Abimelech and his entire household a death sentence. Had the king slept with Sarah that would have been the end eveb though he took her in based on the information he was given. Thank God for mercy, God revealed the truth to him in a dream and asked him to return Sarah to her husband. He obeyed. I particularly like what God said to him in v5, He said I knew your intentions were pure that’s why i kept you from sinning….God knows the intent of our heart and he will always come to help us. Even when we are unaware that we are going in the wrong direction, God is faithful, He doesnt just sit back and let us miss it, No he always looks for ways to point us back to the right direction as he did for Abimelech.

O3) Abimelech obeyed God and returned Sarah to her husband and he even blessed them both with gifts. Abraham prayed for him and his wife and servants were able to conceive again. Had Abimelech not heeded God’s voice, his wife and servants would still be barren and they would have died.

A – Application

A1) Let’s trust God with every aspect of our Lives no matter how irrelevant we may feel it is

A2) Let’s endeavour with the help of the holy spirit to always be truthful even if the truth has consequences.

P – Prayer
Dear Lord we thank you for today. We pray you help us trust you with all that we are and have. Help us to always speak the truth even when we know there are consequences. We ask that you will always guide us and when are going astray you will lead us aright and give us the grace to follow your direction. We love you Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen

Thank you for joining today. Pray you have been blessed.
