Good evening y’all. Today we are studied chapter 25 of Proverbs.

Proverbs 25: 4

Silver must be purified before it can be used to make something of value”.(CEVUS06).

Just like silver has to be purified before it can be used, so we also have to be purified by God so we can be useful vessels in His hands.

2 Tim 2:20-21 says: “In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work” (NLT).

Proverbs 25:9 -10

When you and someone else can’t get along, don’t gossip about it.Β  Others will find out, and your reputation will then be ruined” (CEVUS06).

Ok, I’m double covering my eyes. This is deeeeeeep. So guilty of this offense. If someone hurts me, I’m gonna tell as many people about it as i can. I’ve never really thought about it as gossip but reading this verse has got me rethinking…this might actually be gossip! what’s the motive behind going round telling everyone about it?

Proverbs 25:28

Losing self-control leaves you as helpless as a city without a wall” (CEVUS06).

Self control is very key. That’s why it’s one of the fruit of the spirit. If we don’t have self control, we are exposed. Anything is allowed to come in and go as they like.

May we all be vessels unto honour in the hands of God. With His help, may we learn to use our mouth wisely to spread the gospel and not gossip; and to exercise self control.

Proverbs 22 – Are you diligent?

Good evening Y’all. Today we are studying Proverbs 22.

Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men” (Proverbs 22:29 NKJV)

“Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people” (Proverbs 22:29 NLT)

We should strive for excellence in all that we do both physically and spiritually. As the verse says, our diligence will bring us before kings and not just mere men.

This is something I really need help with. Sometimes I just want to do the bare minimum and not go all out to make sure that what I am doing is at the best quality and best level of excellence.

I found the commentary below regards this verse:

“The world recognizes the value of a diligent man in business, and it seeks such. Rulers are always on the look-out for such to run their lesser concerns. We see several illustrations of this in Scripture in Joseph, (Gen. 39:3-6; 41:42; Nehemiah, (2:11; 2:1); in Daniel, (Dan. 6:1-3; 8:27), et al.) The Lord also values diligence in the spiritual realm, (Rom. 12:6-8; 2 Cor. 8:7; Heb. 6:10-12). β€œMean” means β€œobscure.” A diligent man shall stand before great men, not just before obscure, unimportant men. The diligent Christian will stand before the King of kings, as his faithful servant, to be rewarded by Him. Are we diligent in the Lord’s work?”

I pray the Lord will help us be diligent and excel in all that He has committed in our hands.
