Genesis 9

Good Morning y’all. It’s Monday!!!…blogging on the train to work πŸ™‚

Today we continue our study of the book of Genesis. We in chapter 9. In this chapter, we see how God blessed Noah and his sons. Told them to prosper and multiply and gave them dominion and control over every animal. He made a covenant to  them never again will everything living be destroyed by flood waters. The sign of the covenant is the Rainbow.

Holy Spirit we ask you open our eyes to see, our ears to hear and our hearts to perceive the truth in the word today. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Be blessed πŸ™‚

God made a covenant to Noah and all generations to come that never again will everything living be destroyed by flood waters. The sign of the covenant is the rainbow. It’s a reminder of God’s faithfulness and truthfulness to His promise.

Noah planted a vineyard and one day had too much too drink and was drunk. Ham is youngest son came into his tent and saw him naked. He went out and told his brothers. I’ve always wondered what Ham did wrong when he saw his father naked and went to tell his brothers. I guess it was the motive behind his action that was the issue. Perhaps he did it to shame his father or ridicule him. His other brothers on the other hand, did the right thing by protecting their father’s dignity. They took a cloak and walking backwards covered their father without seeing his nakedness.

The lesson here is for us to check our motives. Why do we do the things we do? For example you hear of a young girl at church who is pregnant out of wedlock and you decide to blab her issue to everyone in your prayer group under the pretense you want them to pray for her. Is that really your motive or you just want everyone to know what she has done. We can fool man but God can’t be fooled. He knows the intents of our hearts. The psalmist understood this and said search me oh God and know my thoughts….
Psalms 139:23-24 NLT: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life“.
Psalms 26:2 NLT: “Put me on trial, lord , and cross-examine me. Test my motives and my heart“.

Hams actions cost him severely.  His father placed a curse not on him but on his son. When we do the wrong thing, it not only affect us but others around us. The consequences might not directly affect us but might affect generations after us. What kind of legacy are we living behind for those coming after us? Are they inheriting blessings or curses?

Today, let’s ask God to examine our motives and if there be anything not right, let’s ask for grace to make the changes needed.

Prayer
Dear Lord thank you for today and for your promises towards us. Today we ask that you search us, O God, and know our heart; test us and know our anxious thoughts. Point out anything in us that offends you, and lead us along the path of everlasting life. In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Thanks for joining today.

Have a blessed Monday :). Remember,  check your motives before you act.

Genesis 8

Good morning y’all.  Happy sunday!!!

Today we continue our study of Genesis. We in chapter 8. Noah and all in the boat were kept safe during the flood. Flood ended and God instructed them to leave the boat so they can start afresh. God made a promise to not destroy the earth again.

Be blessed πŸ™‚

God turned his attention to Noah! Wow that’s pretty awesome! Just to know that the creator of the universe, the one who holds it all in his hands will actually turn his attention to us. That He will remember us. That he will make time for us, to listen and communicate with us. For me it’s just amazing. The psalmist says what is man that you are mindful of him…

Psalm 8:4-5 AMP:
“What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him? Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honor.”

If God turned his attention to Noah and all on the boat,  He can and will do the same for us too. Be encouraged πŸ™‚

Not only did he turn his attention to them, He made the elements to work in their favour.V 2 and 3 tells of how God caused the wind to blow and the flood waters began to go down…..I pray God will cause everything around us to begin to work in our favour.

Noah didn’t leave the boat until he was instructed by God to do so even though he knew the earth was dry seeing as the dove didn’t come back when he sent it out the 3rd time. Don’t run ahead of God. Let’s wait for his guidance and direction. Prov 3: 5-6 tells us to not lean on our own understanding but in all our ways to acknowledge God and he will direct our path.

Proverbs 3:5-6 CEVUS06:

“With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment.  Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow.”

After Noah and all left the boat, he offered burnt offering to God. This I believed he did to thank God for safety during the flood and for a fresh beginning.  God was delighted in  the offering and vowed never to destroy all living things again. Are we grateful and thankful for all that God does for us or do we thank it for granted. Let’s offer thanks to God. Scripture says we should give thanks to God for this is his will.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT : “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Prayer
Dear Lord we thank you for today. We thank you for your breath in us. Thank you for the many wonderful things you have blessed us with. Today we pray that you will turn your attention towards us, that you would cause everything around us to work in our favour. Pls give us a grateful and thankful heart. We love you Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen

Thank you for joining.

Have a blessed Sunday and remember to be thankful and grateful today.
