Acts 13 – facing opposition

Good evening y’all. Today we are studying acts chapter 13

Be blessed 🙂

During my study I found the article below on chapter 13 which really blessed me. Tot I’d share some excerpts from the article.

God’s kingdom does not advance without someone, somewhere, making some painful investments. Believers must be willing to sacrifice comfort and esteem to share the gospel. Churches must be willing to give up finances and people to plant new churches. What are you being asked to invest in the kingdom of God today?

There will be setbacks in ministry. People will give up. Ministries will fail. Churches will fall by the wayside. If we’re going to accomplish our God-given objectives, though, we must not allow those setbacks to preclude us from pressing forward in faith. We must press on.

The gospel is supposed to be the good news of Jesus Christ. And yet how often do we present it because we have to? As though it hurts us? With fear and trepidation? How often do we just not present it at all? We need to start acting and ministering like the gospel message is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to us!
We must expect persecution if we’re going to truly make a difference for the Lord. But tough as it may be, persecution does not have to mean that we go through life with a long face or bitter spirit. In fact, we don’t even have to get by with a little joy or Holy Spirit. The believers here were filled! It means that there was absolutely no room for more. They were filled with joy! That is a stark contrast to happiness. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit! The very presence and power of God was poured out within them until they were completely full!
We can’t shy away from persecution. Rather, we must welcome it as an opportunity for God to peel back a little more of our outer armor so He can fill us with all the things that we’re going to need to carry on. (https://jgeerdes.wordpress.com/2009/10/26/acts-13-four-lessons/)

Have a blessed evening 🙂

Acts 12 – When God is in it, there is no limit…

Good morning y’all.  Apologies i’m a day late with the blogging. Today’s post is on Acts chapter 12.

Be blessed 🙂

Peter is jailed by Herod and the church were fervently praying for his release and deliverance. They knew they couldn’t do anything physically of their own might to free Peter from jail, but rather than worry, they spent their energy on praying. They understood that prayer changes things that can’t be changed naturally. Verse 5 says they never stopped praying to God for him.

“But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him” (NLT).

God showed up and answered their prayer.  It amazed me though that when Peter showed up at the place where they were praying for his release, the people didn’t expect to see him. They began arguing it couldn’t be him.

“When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed that, instead of opening the door, she ran back inside and told everyone, “Peter is standing at the door!” “You’re out of your mind!” they said. When she insisted, they decided, “It must be his angel.”Meanwhile, Peter continued knocking. When they finally opened the door and saw him, they were amazed” (V14 – 16 NLT).

They were praying but sort of didn’t expect a result. I can identify with this a lot. There are times in my life where I find myself in situation where it looks absolutely hopeless, yet I pray to God but somewhere in my mind I’m thinking this situation is impossible; I don’t know if this can actually be fixed. I keep praying though just like the church were doing and I ask God to intervene. When the miracle comes, I’m amazed and start wondering if it was really true and if it was God. Meanwhile I have been praying for the intervention. It’s like we pray yet we are not sure God can do it but we still pray. But I love me some God, He is ever faithful and in spite of our doubts and fears He still shows up to encourage us. He showed up for Peter and the church and with a mighty deliverance, He delivered Peter.

This tells me we can’t put God in a box or try to limit Him with our human understanding. It might seem impossible to us but with God its not. Let’s keep praying and have expectancy that God will intervene on our behalf.

Verse 10 also did it for me. I couldn’t get over it. It says the gate opened of its own accord for Peter and the Angel.

They passed the first and second guard posts and came to the iron gate leading to the city, and this opened for them all by itself” (NLT)

This is the same gate that closed Peter in, the same gate that was standing in the way of His freedom.
A gate is a barrier; it’s something that’s used to contain one or keep one in. It represents a stumbling block or hindrance.  This gate was an hindrance to Peter. As long as he was behind the gate he couldn’t progress, he couldn’t do what God has called him to do. But when the Everlasting King of Glory stepped into Peters situation, scripture says this same gate opened of its own accord to Peter and he walked out freely.  Wow!!! isn’t that amazing.

I’m reminded of Psalm 24: 7- 10 –

“Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah” (NKJV)

I don’t know what’s the gate in your life that’s stopping you from fulfilling destiny, whatever be the gate, call God into the situation today and watch him open those gates on your behalf.

Micah 2:13 says “The one who breaks open will come up before them; They will break out, Pass through the gate,
And go out by it; Their king will pass before them, With the Lord at their head” (NKJV).

I pray God will give us the grace to trust in Him more; that our faith will continue to grow stronger. For as many that are going through one issue or the other, I pray God will send His angels to deliver you just like He did for Peter. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Thanks for joining today.

Have a blessed day 🙂
