Mark 5 – Don’t be afraid just have faith…

Good evening y’all.  Welcome to day 5 of our study of the book of Mark.

Today we are looking at chapter 5.

There are 3 main lessons I got from today’s chapter that i want to share. I pray you are blessed as you read In jesus’ Name. Amen

1) Even the demons recognise the authority in Jesus. Verse 6 says:

“When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him”.
(NLT
)

Basically, power pass power 🙂 . A lesser power met with a greater power and the lessor one had no choice but to surrender and pay respect to the greater power.

So friends whatever challenge you are facing, know that God is far greater than that challenge. Colossians 1: 16-17 tells us that all things were made by Him and for Him
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist”.(NKJV)

2) The devil can’t do anything without God’s permission. Verse 13 says:

So Jesus gave them permission…”(NLT)

I’m amazed though..even the devil has to seek permission from God before he can do anything. This reminds me of Job, where devil had to ask for permission from God before he could torment him. God is sovereign overall. Hallelujah!!!

3) All we need is faith.
Jesus is able and willing to heal us but he requires us to have faith in Him. We need to believe that He is able to do that which He has said He will do. The woman with the issue of blood believed all she had heard about Jesus healing the sick and so she purposed in her heart to get to Jesus and get her healing. Her faith was so strong that she believed that all she needed to do was just touch Jesus’ garment. She wasn’t even looking for a face to face chat, she just wanted a touch of his robe and she believed strongly she would receive her healing.

As i was reading, it occurred to me that there were many others around Jesus bumping into him, touching his robe but nothing happened to them because they didn’t have any faith. They didn’t believe in Him and failed to recognise the power and authority that He carried.

The woman and Jairus both demonstrated great faith in Jesus. The woman got her healing and Jairus’ daughter was raised back to life.

Friends whatever challenge you are going through today, all you need is faith. Hear the words of Jesus in verse 36 –
But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.”(NLT)

Let those words encourage you today. God is able and willing to come through for you. Keep praying, have faith and hold on to His word and He will surely bring it to pass.

I will leave us with Isaiah 43:1 -5
“But now, God ’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God , your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you. “So don’t be afraid: I’m with you.’”
(MSG)

Once again, Don’t be afraid, just have faith…

Thanks for joining today. Pls feel free to share your thoughts on the chapter.

Have a blessed evening 😉

Mark 4 – What kind of Soil are you?

Good evening y’all. Today we are looking at Mark chapter 4

Be Blessed 🙂

In verses 3 to 8, Jesus tells us about the different kinds of soil. He goes on to explain 2 his disciples in verses 13 to 20 the meaning of each soil and it’s implications.

I am going to do a quick summary on each. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will minister to us and help us realise where we are and give us the grace to make the necessary amends. Our goal is it be the fertile soil which produced a great harvest.

1) The footpath soil –
These are the ones whose hearts are hardened and unreceptive to the word of God. There is no room in their lives for God’s word at all. They believe they don’t need His help and can get through life on their own. Jeffrey E Miller had this to say about this kind of Soil-

“This soil represents a hard heart that doesn’t permit the Word of God to penetrate its surface. These individuals are in control of their own lives; they have all of the answers. They are unteachable, and the Word of God falls upon their deaf ears.” (Www.bible.org)

Are you a footpath soil?

2) Shallow soil –

These ones who hear the word and are immediately filled with excitement but it doesn’t last enough to produce any effect in their lives. They lack a personal relationship with The Word Himself – Jesus, so when the storms and challenges of life come, they are unable to stand. No wonder Paul prayed that we will be deeply rooted in Christ

Are you a shallow soil?

3) Thorny soil –

These ones hear the word and receive it but somewhere along the line, life happens to them. They become too busy for God or distracted by the activities of life. They don’t have time to tend or nurture their relationship with God. The more they leave it unattended, the more the thorns keep growing and eventually the relationship withers away …

Are you a thorny soil?

4) Fertile soil –
These ones who hear the word of God and accept it. They embrace the word with faith and run with it. The Word transforms their lives and produces fruits. Their lives impact others around them. They are not ashamed to tell others about their faith.

Are you a fertile soil?

Our ultimate goal is to get to a point where our hearts are the right condition for the word of God to grow in us and to impact the lives of those we come in contact with. Where the cares of this world do not overwhelm us. Where we have learnt to put into practice Matthew 6:33 which says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and it’s righteousness….. Where we have learnt to surrender it all to God and let His Spirit lead us.

I pray God removes every barrier that’s stopping us from becoming a fertile soil. That we will learn to cast all our  anxiety and fears for tomorrow on Him and keep looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith. In Jesus ‘s Name. Amen

Thanks for joining today. Pls feel free to share your thoughts.

Have a blessed evening 🙂
