Numbers 9 – God’s Positioning System

Good evening y’all. I’ve finally caught up with backlog of blogging :). This blog is on Numbers chapter 9. Be blessed ๐Ÿ™‚

Moses said, โ€œWait here while I go into the sacred tent and find out what the Lord says about this.โ€ (Numbers 9:8 CEVUS06)

Moses found himself in a situation he was unfamiliar with. He had never known of anyone celebrating Passover without being ceremonially unclean. The Israelites had every right to partake in the passover and when they came to meet Moses, he could have easily replied them saying “yes you should be okay to celebrate” but I love what Moses response was. He didn’t assume on God’s behalf, rather he went to seek God’s face concerning the issue.

Often times we assume things on God’s behalf rather than asking Him to confirm what He wants us to do (I’m guilty of this offence so many times! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ).ย  We shouldn’t just assume what He wants from us, rather we should take time out to seek His face.

If we seek God, we will find Him, just as He promised. He will never leave us stranded. We can save ourselves a lot of heartache when we learn to take a leaf from Moses’ book.

It’s one thing to seek God’s opinion and it’s another thing to carry out His response: especially when His response is not desirable. May God give us the grace to be obedient to Him even when it’s not convenient for us, in Jesus’ Name I pray.ย  Amen.

In addition, the Israelites only left, or remained, in a location when God instructs them so. God led them by day as a cloud and at night as fire: they only broke camp whenever the pillar cloud or fire moved. God was basically their GPS system. They never got tired of following the GPS of God or at any point ever thought they knew better than their GPS system. This is obedience taken to another level…lol. They demonstrated total dependance and reliance on God.

Who is your GPS system: God or yourself or your TomTom?

How much easier and sweeter would our lives be if only we would allow God to be the One directing and leading us? If we would surrender and give the control over to him.

He knows it all. He created everything. He knows what’s best for us. So why not let Him take the wheel?

Proverbs tells us not to lean on our understanding.

With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment.ย  Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow”. (Proverbs 3:5-6 CEVUS06)

Psalmist tell us that those who put their trust in God will not be put to shame.

No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, Oย  lord ; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you”. (Psalms 25:3-5 NLT)

Today why don’t you hand over the control to God?ย  Ask for grace to ‘trust and obey’ Him completely.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, we thank You for today. We thank You for Your love towards us. We ask You for forgiveness for all the times we have been disobedient. We also pray that Your Holy Spirit may help us obey and trust You. Lord, we hand over control of our lives to You. Please direct and lead us. Thank You, dear Lord, in Jesus’ Name we have prayed. Amen.

Thank you for joining today.

Have a wonderful evening basking in God’s goodness ๐Ÿ™‚

Numbers 8 – Love and Obedience…

Good morning y’all. Today’s blog is on Numbers chapter 8.

As I read through the chapter, obedience was what came to mind. I guess its because God has been dealing with me on this issue of obedience.

I’m learning to obey Him completely and not partially even when it hurts to do so (oh it could be very painful.. ๐Ÿ™‚ thank God for grace…) .  I’m also seeing that God likes to pay attention to details and He likes things to be done the way He has instructed and not how I think it should be done.

God doesn’t leave room for assumption. He tells us plainly and clearly how He wants things to be done. If we are unsure, it’s better to go back to Him and ask for clarification rather than assume.

For example in verse 1-3, God tells Moses to tell Aaron where to put the lamps and in what position it should face.

“The Lord said to Moses,  โ€œGive Aaron the following instructions: When you set up the seven lamps in the lampstand, place them so their light shines forward in front of the lampstand.โ€  So Aaron did this. He set up the seven lamps so they reflected their light forward, just as the Lord had commanded Moses”  (Num 8:1-3 NLT)

Aaron could have said to himself…” I’ll put the lamps on the lampstands but I don’t think God would really care if it’s facing the right position or not”. Thank God he didn’t take that approach as there’s no telling what would have happened to him had he done that… I guess the fear of God came upon him after watching his two sons die in the presence of God due to their carelessness to obey instruction.

God instructs Moses and Aaron and the children of Israel on what needs to be done in order for the Levites to be dedicated to Him. They all obeyed and followed God’s instruction. They didn’t try to cut corners or look for easy way round. Doing it God’s way must have been more important to them than doing it their way.

“So Moses, Aaron, and the whole community of Israel dedicated the Levites, carefully following all the Lordโ€™s instructions to Moses”. (Num 8:20 NLT)

How much value do we place on obedience to God’s instruction? Do we feel we can do it however we like or do we pay attention to details to ensure its done correctly.

God is a God of attention and order. He doesn’t leave anything out at all. He pays attention even to the littlest thing we consider irrelevant.

As we go about our day today, let’s ponder on our obedience. Lets ask for forgiveness in the areas where we have fallen short and ask for grace to love God more because when we love Him, we will obey Him unconditionally.

Thanks for joining today. Pls feel free to share your thots on the chapter.
