Leviticus 4 – Sin Offering

Good evening y’all. Today we are studying Leviticus chapter 4. The chapter is all about Sin Offering

Be blessed 🙂

As I was reading the chapter this morning, I was filled with so much gratitude for the gift of Jesus. I can only imagine what life would be like if Jesus didn’t die for us. The number of bulls that would have been sacrificed on my behalf as a results of my sins would be countless!!!! Oh I’m so grateful for the cross.

Jesus knew no sin, yet He offered himself as the lamb without blemish to be killed for our sins. His blood as that of the young lamb was shed for us so we could be reconciled back to the Father. Our guilt was transferred unto Him.

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ”. ( 2 cor 5: 21 NLT)

For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, (Romans 8:3 NIV)

But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.(1 John 3: 5 NIV)

I’m sure the Israelites back in those days were careful to avoid sin, because they knew the process of forgiveness was very bloody and probably costly as well. I say this because, if you think about it they had to bring their most priced possession for the sacrifice. They just couldn’t pick up any animal and offer it to God, it had to be their best.

Thanks to Jesus we no longer live under the law but under grace. But should grace mean we become slack with sin? Truth is if we truly appreciate and fully understand the price Jesus paid for us on the cross, we would do everything we can with the help of the Holy Spirit to make sure we live above sin. We will pursue holiness with a passion. Sin won’t even have room in our lives.

I am reminded of Romans 6 where Paul says ‘shall we continue in sin that grace abounds? God Forbid’.

I will leave us to ponder on Romans 6 and I  pray that the Holy Spirit will minister to us as we read.

“1Well then, shall we keep on sinning so that God can keep on showing us more and more kindness and forgiveness?

2-3 Of course not! Should we keep on sinning when we don’t have to? For sin’s power over us was broken when we became Christians and were baptized to become a part of Jesus Christ; through his death the power of your sinful nature was shattered.

12 Do not let sin control your puny body any longer; do not give in to its sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your bodies become tools of wickedness, to be used for sinning; but give yourselves completely to God—every part of you—for you are back from death and you want to be tools in the hands of God, to be used for his good purposes. 14 Sin need never again be your master,[b] for now you are no longer tied to the law where sin enslaves you, but you are free under God’s favor and mercy.

15 Does this mean that now we can go ahead and sin and not worry about it? (For our salvation does not depend on keeping the law but on receiving God’s grace!) Of course not!

16 Don’t you realize that you can choose your own master? You can choose sin (with death) or else obedience (with acquittal). The one to whom you offer yourself—he will take you and be your master, and you will be his slave”. (Romans 6: 1-3, 12-16 TLB)

Prayer:

Dear Lord we thank you for today. We are grateful for your Son Jesus. Thank you for the price Jesus paid for us. We ask for grace to live holy before you and offer our lives completely to You. Thank you Lord. In Jesus Name we prayed. Amen.

Thank you for joining today.

Have a blessed evening 🙂

Leviticus 3 – Peace Offering

Good evening y’all. We are continuing in our study of Leviticus. We are in chapter 3 today 🙂

Today’s chapter is about the peace offering. Some versions refer to this as “offering of thanksgiving” or fellowship offering

Be blessed 🙂

“When anyone wants to give an offering of thanksgiving to the Lord, he may use either a bull or a cow, but the animal must be entirely without defect if it is to be offered to the Lord! (Lev 3: 1 TLB)

“If you present an animal from the herd as a peace offering to the Lord, it may be a male or a female, but it must have no defects”.(Lev 3:1 NLT)

“When any of you offer one of your cattle as a fellowship offering, it is to be a bull or a cow without any defects”. (Lev 3:1 GNT)

For the Israelite in those days (I’m assuming) this was their way of thanking God that He is no longer angry with them and are in fellowship with Him. They have peace with him and their fellow brethren.

So what did I learn from the chapter today? For me, it was more of gratitude to God for sending Jesus to die for me. Because of His sacrifice, I enjoy peace, favor and fellowship with God. He is my peace offering and now I can come boldly before God and even call Him, Abba Father. What a privilege and honor that is !!!

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father ( Ephesians 2: 14-18 NKJV)

I will leave us with Hebrews 13:15

“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name”

Thanks for joining today. Pls feel free to leave your thoughts on the chapter.

Have a blessed evening.
