Good evening y’all. Happy Sunday π . Today we are looking at Matthew 20.
This blog was due on Friday but I have been going through a lazy phase ***covering eyes***.
So I read the chapter and I was struck by the servant attitude Jesus described in the chapter.
Be blessed π
“But Jesus called them together and said, βYou know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.β (Matthew 20:25-28 NLT)
If we want to be great in God’s Kingdom, we have to learn to serve others. We have to learn to take the focus off ourselves and put it on others. We get the greatest joy from serving others.
Sometimes we serve and our service is not recognised. That hurts but we have to remember whom it is we are doing the service unto. It is for God and we know our reward is not from men but from God. Let’s continue to serve. Colossians 3:23-24 says:
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ”. (NLT)
Even Jesus came to serve us and serve He did. He never for once thought highly of himself or asked to be treated differently or specially from others. If it were in our society today, we would see how people will be using their authority and power to terrorise others. But not Jesus: He taught and lived what He preached. He lived how things are done in God’s kingdom. He even washed the feet of His disciples!!!.
Today let’s ask God for a servant’s heart. A heart that is ready to serve and put others ahead of themselves. God will greatly reward us as we do this. Amen.
Thanks for joining today
Have a blessed night π
