Good evening y’all. Today we are in Exodus chapter 9.

Few points I want to share from the chapter.

1) God is a covenant promise keeping God. He never lies and when He says something, He does it. He gave the timing for the plagues and indeed they all happened at the time God set.

“And the Lord set a time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.” And the next day the Lord did this thing. All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one of the livestock of the people of Israel died”.(Exodus 9:5-6 ESV)

2) God setting the time tells me there is an appointed time for everything to happen. God owns time. His timing is best. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says “He has made everything beautiful in its time…”. God can be trusted to come through for us at the appointed time.

3) Obedience is a choice. God will never force his will on us. He will show us what he wants, it’s left for us to obey. Moses told Pharaoh about the hail. Scripture says those of his servants that feared the word of the lord did as Moses told and hid themselves and livestock in the house and some didn’t fear God and they perished in the hail.

“Some of the king’s officials were frightened by what the Lord had said, and they hurried off to make sure their slaves and animals were safe. But others paid no attention to his threats and left their slaves and animals out in the open“.(Exodus 9:20-21 CEVUS06)

“It left all of Egypt in ruins. The hail struck down everything in the open field—people, animals, and plants alike. Even the trees were destroyed“.(Exodus 9:25 NLT)

Everyone heard the same message; some chose to act on it and others chose to ignore it. Choose wisely!

4) With all the plagues God’s aim was to keep revealing himself to Pharaoh till he understood and came to the realisation that indeed there is only one true God -Yahweh. He is the one who reigns over all and controls everything.

“But I have spared you for a purpose—to show you my power and to spread my fame throughout the earth“.(Exodus 9:16 NLT)

“….. Then the thunder and hail will stop, and you will know that the earth belongs to the lord“.(Exodus 9:29 NLT)

God longs for a relationship with us, his creation and therefore will always look for opportunities to reveal himself to us. He will continue to prod at our hearts till we acknowledge his Lordship and enter into all that He has for us.

Revelations 3:20 says: “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends”.(NLT)

I pray today we will not turn our hearts away from him but we will open our hearts to him and let Him have his way.

Prayer:
Thank you dear Lord for today. We ask for the grace to always trust your timing. Help us be obedient to you and submit to your Lordship in our lives. We love you Lord. In Jesus Name Amen.
