Proverbs 31- Servant Leadership

Good day everyone, and welcome back to our journey through the book of Proverbs! 😊 Each chapter has been filled with timeless wisdom, and today we’re diving into Proverbs 31 — the final chapter! My prayer is that as we reflect together, God’s Word will bring encouragement, guidance, and fresh revelation for your daily walk.

As we come to the end of Proverbs, I want to thank you for journeying through this book with me. It has truly been a joy to study and share these insights with you. I’m still seeking the Lord’s direction on what book to explore next — a part of me feels drawn to the Gospels, perhaps beginning with John. But as always, I’ll trust His leading.

Now, let’s dive into today’s passage.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.” Proverbs 31:8–9 (NLT)

In these verses, we hear the wise counsel of a mother to her son, a king. She urges him not to waste his strength on destructive pleasures but instead to use his position to bring justice and defend the vulnerable.

What stands out to me is this: leadership and influence are not for self-gain but for serving others. This is the same truth Jesus taught when He said, “I came not to be served but to serve.” In Matthew 20, He reminded His disciples:

“Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.” Matthew 20:26–27 (NLT)

Jesus modelled servant leadership — humbling Himself, washing His disciples’ feet, and putting the needs of others before His own. True greatness in God’s kingdom is not about status but about service.

Nowadays, those in positions of power or leadership desire to be served rather than to serve. But Scripture reminds us that our influence is entrusted to us so we can help, defend, and uplift others — especially those who cannot speak for themselves. This call to defend the helpless and pursue justice isn’t limited to kings or rulers; it’s a charge to every believer.

We are called to love justice, to stand up for what is right, and to act with humility. We cannot see injustice and turn away simply because it doesn’t affect us personally. God calls us to be His hands and voice — to speak up, to protect, and to show His heart of compassion to the world.

I pray that we will all seek to follow Jesus’ example of servant leadership — to use our positions, however small or great, to lift others up and bring God’s justice and love into every situation.

Proverbs 30 – Trust, Contentment, and Finding Satisfaction in God

Good day everyone, and welcome back to our journey through the book of Proverbs! 😊

Each chapter is filled with timeless wisdom, and today we’re diving into Proverbs 30 and I wil focus on verse 5, 8 & 9. My prayer is that as we reflect together, God’s Word will bring encouragement, guidance, and fresh revelation for your daily walk.

[5] Every promise from the faithful God is pure and proves to be true. He is a wraparound shield of protection for all his lovers who run to hide in him. (Proverbs 30:5 TPT)

I love this verse and how it reminds us that God is faithful and can be trusted. His promises are not only pure but also consistently proven to be true. We can place our complete trust in Him, knowing that He never fails to keep His word.

For everyone who seeks refuge in God, He becomes a shield of protection, offering safety and security on all sides. The question we each must consider is: are we running to God or away from Him? God’s track record is flawless; He always fulfils His promises and can be trusted. Psalm 33:4 (TPT) says:

‘For God’s Word is something to sing about! He is true to his promises, his word can be trusted, and everything he does is reliable and right.’

So today no matter what you are going through, remember God is a wraparound shield for you and you can run to him and find refuge. He can be trusted and keep His promise to you

[8] Empty out of my heart everything that is false— every lie, and every crooked thing. And give me neither undue poverty nor undue wealth— but rather, feed my soul with the measure of prosperity that pleases you. [9] May my satisfaction be found in you. Don’t let me be so rich that I don’t need you or so poor that I have to resort to dishonesty just to make ends meet. Then my life will never detract from bringing glory to your name. (Proverbs 30:8-9 TPT)

Oh! how these verses should be our prayer always. Solomon asks God to remove everything that is untrue from his heart—every lie and every crooked thing. He does not want to be given excessive wealth or driven into poverty, but instead to receive just enough, a measure of prosperity that is pleasing to God. .

Solomon had come to a point where he realised that his sufficiency and satisfaction is found only in God, not in material possessions or self-reliance. Are we seeking satisfaction in places other than God, or relying on our own abilities to accumulate wealth?

Solomon’s words reflect a heart that longs to remain humble, never wanting to reach a stage where he feels independent of God. He was content with having just enough. It doesn’t mean settling for less—it means resting in the knowledge that God’s provision is always perfect. When we live this way, our lives become a reflection of His faithfulness and bring glory to His name.

When we choose to trust God’s promises and find contentment in His provision, we step into a peace that the world can’t give—and can never take away.

So today, let’s make this our prayer too:

Lord, empty my heart of everything false. Remove anything that takes my eyes off You. Teach me to find my satisfaction in You alone, and grant me a heart that is content with Your perfect provision. May my life always point back to Your glory. In Jesus’s name, Amen
