Proverbs 10 – Seasons come and go

Good day everyone and welcome to another day of blogging through the book of Proverbs 😊

Today we look at chapter 10 and I’ll be focusing on verse 5 and 19

The phrase “know the importance of the season you are in” shows that life is in seasons, each with its own purpose. If we don’t identify what each season is for, we risk missing out on the opportunities or experiences available during that time.

In this verse, a person who understands what they should be doing in their season is likened to one who is wise, while a foolish person is one who sleeps through their seasons, who is not sensitive enough to understand what he should be doing in that season.

This reminds me of the sons of Issachar in King David’s time. The Bible records they were a people who understood the seasons and knew what Israel needed to do.

We as children of God, have the Holy Spirit as our advantage so there shouldn’t be any reason why we can’t understand our seasons. The Holy Spirit is there to guide us, help us, teach us and tell us of things to come.

If you are uncertain about your current season or what you should be doing, ask the Holy Spirit. He is available to provide insight regarding your season and what you should be doing. He is always ready to reveal God’s mind to us.

Another verse that stood out for me is verse 19.

If we don’t have control over our mouth, it can really get us into trouble.  Just like the verse says, the more we talk, the more chances of us saying something we shouldn’t. It is wisdom to have control over our mouth. James 3: 2-5 says:

Today, let’s be mindful of the things we say, as the words we choose have the potential to either uplift or cause harm. Proverbs 18:21 says: “Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life, and the talkative person will reap the consequences.”

Thanks for joining me on this journey.
