Proverbs 2 – Personal Bodyguard

Good day everyone and welcome to another day of blogging through the bible

Today we look at Proverbs chapter 2

Let’s start with verse 1 & 2 in TPT translation

Then pass it on to your sons and daughters… This is legacy!!! Let’s take a moment to reflect and ask ourselves: what legacy am I leaving behind for my children and those coming after me? Are my actions providing a positive example them? Is my life pointing them to Christ or away from Him?

I’m going to jump to Verses 6- 11. I have to admit these verses were it for me today. It almost felt like I had never read Proverbs Chapter 2 before 😊

Wisdom is a gift from a generous God. This is so true, and we see James reiterating this in James 1: 5

Every word from God is full of revelation. Revelation is simply you having light or knowledge about something that was previously unknown or kept secret. This means the WORD of God brings light to us. John 1:1 tells us that Jesus is the WORD and in John 1:4 that He is the light that shines in darkness and darkness cannot comprehend it. When we engage God’s word, it becomes a fountain of understanding within us.

The Lord has a hidden storehouse full of wisdom!!! Like what!!!! Did I just read that 😊 Look, whenever you need wisdom or revelation, you can always go to God and be sure He has the answers and is ever ready to share His wisdom with you.  The starting point is you seeking Him for wisdom in the first place.

He becomes your personal bodyguard…Imagine having God as your personal bodyguard!!! Well as long you follow His ways and heed to wisdom you can be rest assured that He is your bodyguard: watching and guiding your every step and move as you choose what is right.

Today is another opportunity to respond to wisdom’s call. Are you ready to heed?

I pray we all make the right choice and heed the call of wisdom.

Proverbs 26 – So you think you are wise…

Good afternoon y’all. Happy Monday 🙂
Today, we continue our study of the book of Proverbs. We are in chapter 26.

Verse 12 of this chapter really caught my attention this morning. Pride is such a dangerous thing to have in ones life.

I pray as we read, the Holy spirit will reveal to us those areas where pride is still at work in our lives.

Be blessed 🙂

“Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There  is more hope for a fool than for him” (V12 NKJV) .

Are we wise in our own eyes? Do we believe we have ‘arrived’ or know it all, that we start to ignore God? Do we trust in our strength and wealth?

All of the above is pride in all of its glorification!!! Pride is what makes a man believe he knows it all and doesn’t need God. It’s such a dangerous thing to think you have ‘arrived’ or know it all, to the extent you stop taking corrections from people and even from God!

When we become careless and allow pride full reign in our lives, God himself will have to humble us and oh it’s such a painful experience to be humbled by God. Ask king Nebucadnezzer in the book of Daniel and Pharaoh in the book of Exodus. I’m sure they would both tell us they wish they weren’t proud and defiant against God. One was given a second chance, the other never got a chance to repent; he died in his pride and arrogance.

Scripture tells us that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).

Friends, let’s respect ourselves and understand our limitations. We cant make it through this christian race without Gods help and direction. That’s why proverbs 3: 5-7 tells us to trust in the Lord and not lean on our own understanding

“With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow. Don’t ever think that you are wise enough, but respect the Lord and stay away from evil” (Pro 3:5-7 CEVUS06).

No matter how much money or how successful we are or how knowledgeable we are, never let us get too proud or reject instruction from God. It is a very dangerous thing to get to this point.

Humility is very important. Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:18 says:

“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise” (NKJV).

That is for us to be wise, we must first learn to humble ourselves and admit we know nothing; that we are completely clueless. Then God can begin to teach us and fill us with His wisdom.

I will leave us with few scriptures on humility

“Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom” (Pro 11: 2 NLT).

“Pride leads to destruction; humility leads to honor” (Pro 18:12 CEVUS06).

“True humility and fear of the lord lead to riches, honor, and long life”.(Pro 22: 4 NLT).

“If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom” (James 3:13 NLT).

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor” (1 Peter 5:6 NLT).

“Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion” (Rom 12:16 NKJV).

I pray God will remove pride from our lives and fill us with the spirit of humility. Amen.

Thanks for joining today. Pls feel free to share your thoughts on the chapter.

Have a blessed day 🙂
